Interweb Love #MagicMoments Part1

It’s been a right old week in my house! It started last weekend with 22mo not eating, being sick and producing delightful nappies. The poor lamb wasn’t right at all and also spent Mon and Tues last week rather solemn. While she had extra long naps I took the opportunity to catch up on all my blogging, and I’m glad I did because I came down with it on Weds. From what I hear from others it was the dreaded Norovirus, but who knows. How I got through the witching hour and put the girls to bed that night will forever astound me (mummy super powers anyone?) Hubby tried to get home early but still missed bedtime – once he realised what a state I was in he felt terrible. I didn’t eat the whole day, and went to bed at 8pm.

That night and early Thursday was horrendous, can’t remember ever feeling worse due to a bug. Being a work day I was able to call in sick, and the girls went to school and nursery. I slept all morning which saved me, and when I dragged myself out of bed at 11:30am I was starting to feel a teeny bit human. I did the only sensible thing I could think of: lay on the sofa and watched my fave Xmas movie, Love Actually. Unfortunately little one came home from nursery with a nasty cold and hubby caught the sickness bug so Friday was also a barrel of laughs! I still wasn’t even operating at 50% let alone 100%, so took another day off work to try and recoup. Saturday morning saw hubby and I on the mend, but 4yo vomiting all over herself and 22mo really snotty and phlegmy. What was supposed to be a fun weekend ended up being very low key indeed. We managed to put some Xmas decorations up on Sunday but that was the extent of it!

As you can imagine I was in need of cheering up during this glum time, and my wonderful blogging friends did not disappoint! Two weeks ago Vicky from VeViVo’s nominated me for a Blog Your Heart Out Award, and I was absolutely chuffed. You can read her original post here. Then Kate from Kate On Thin Ice tagged me in this fun meme entitled I’m A Blogger Get Me Out Of Here, and two days later Jocelyn over at The Reading Residence nominated me in this post for a Versatile Blogger Award. I’m so very touched, and am looking forward to writing my replies and connecting with even more bloggers.

If all this web-love wasn’t enough, Mummy Tries was featured on VeViVo’s Newbie Showcase this weekend. A really personal story I’ve been wanting to share for a long time received lots of #PoCoLo attention, and it’s all spurring me in the right direction to start working on my book. Thank you to everyone that commented, I was genuinely blown away by your kindness.

Although the sickness big wasn’t much fun at all, my week was still full of little #MagicMoments 🙂

  4. We’re finally on the up thank goodness – I felt normal today for the first time all week. Thank you for your lovely comment. A handful of my most trusted friends have the details of my blog, but they know everything there is to know about me anyway. I get a lot out of writing, and the anonymity allows me to be completely honest and not feel I have to hold back at all. There’s also a big part of me that thinks I should keep it this way even if I write the book, because I don’t want my kids to know certain information until they’re old enough to process it properly. I knew way too much way too young, and I don’t think it did me any favours at all growing up. Never say never though. This works for now, and I’m happy to play it by ear for the future xx

  6. Aww sounds like youve had an awful week. It’s horrid when it goes round everyone, and scary! Well done on all your nominations you deserve it! I think people really appreciate the honesty of your writing. I’d like to be more open but unfortunately, I just can’t, what with people i know reading my blog!!!! Will your identity be revealed when your book is out?!!! 😉 xx

  7. Denise says:

Norovirus is the pits. I don’t think I’d ever been so ill as I was when I had it – the violence with which it grabs your guts and squeezes is scary.

All best wishes for a quick and complete recovery for the family

  11. You’re bang on the money with that one. Being ill is never fun, but at least pre-kids we could laze in bed all day. Us Mums really do inherit super powers when we give birth! Thanks for the lovely comment and luck, I’ll definitely be needing it 🙂

  15. Ah you poor thing, it’s awful being ill with children to look after. x #MM

  16. Poor you. Being ill is never good but until you’ve had children you don’t realise how bad it can get with them to look after at the same time. Congratulations on all the recognition too, you deserve it, you clearly put a lot of time and energy into it. And good luck with the book!

  17. Ewww that sounds horrible and a half! I hate being sick, but you managed to score sickness and a cold in one week. Good thing that there was a nursery day in there though. Hope it gets better and more Christmassy from here on out! xxx

  18. Oh blimey it sounds like you’ve had a really tough week, poor little ones and you! I hope everyone’s better soon xx I love Love Actually! I hope it comes on soon!
